WARNING: This article contains some spoilers for Stargirl season 1 finale. Read at your own risk.

Stargirl season 2 dropped its first teaser just recently and teased the return of the superhero drama. The first installment concluded in August 2020 and fans have been waiting for updates since then. Now, there is no need to worry as the titular character is coming back within a few months.

The recently-released promo of Stargirl season 2 confirmed a summer premiere. Initially, it was expected that the second outing would be given a different release date schedule since it was moved from the DC Universe to The CW. Yet, it looks like nothing has changed despite the transfer.

No further details have been revealed aside from the clip announcing the schedule of the second installment. The first season premiered in May 2020, and while the next chapter could follow this, there are other things that must be considered -- particularly filming amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for what story viewers can expect, Stargirl season 2 picks up the massive events that transpired in the season 1 finale. Courtney Whitmore's (Brec Massinger) life will be more complicated, especially with the arrival of new villains: Eclipso and The Shade.

Eclipso may serve as a prominent Bag Bad in the next chapter. His arrival was already hinted at in the final moments of season 1, wherein Cindy (Meg DeLacy) found him encased within a diamond. What makes him dangerous is that he has the ability to control and possess others.

The Shade, on the other hand, was also teased as another Big Bad after being briefly hinted at in the first installment. He could be a huge thorn for Courtney and others moving forward. He has a mysterious nature, which makes him a huge threat to the Justice Society of America.

Meanwhile, other familiar faces also join the upcoming Stargirl season 2. For instance, John Wesley Shipp is set to reprise his role as Jay Garrick/The Flash. He'll appear in a form of a flashback; the time when he was established as the Earth-2 version of the JSA.

In addition, Jim Gaffigan will be voicing the CGI character Thunderbolt in Stargirl season 2. The character is a pink imp who comes from the mysterious land of Bahdnesia. He is said to be electrical, fun-loving, magical, and could grant people's wishes. However, the wishes usually he grants comes with a lot of trouble to the wish-askers.
