Succession season 3 is currently in production. HBO renewed the series back in August 2019 but it was announced in March 2020 that filming has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the good news is that the cast and crew are back to work and preparing to deliver new episodes later this 2021.

Even though there are a lot of uncertainties surrounding the official premiere of Succession season 3, the series is generous in sharing updates when it comes to casting. There will be new additions in the story and all of them will impact the Roy family differently.

In a recent report from Deadline, it was confirmed that Your Honor star Hope Davis is going to play the recurring role of Sandi Furness, Sandy Furness's (Larry Pine) daughter. Her father is a long-time rival of Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and her presence means chaos to some of Logan's children.

Logan is the patriarch of the Roy family and the founder of Waystar RoyCo. He made a lot of enemies over the past years and Sandy Furness is one of his biggest rivals. Only a few things were known about him, though his company is supporting a private-equity fund of a board member of Logan's company.

What's odd here is that the board member happens to be the friend of Logan's second son, Kendall (Jeremy Strong). The previous season ended with him going against his father, with an intense battle for power gearing up in Succession season 3.

Aside from Davis, the three new characters were already confirmed to be joining the series. Shots Fired and The Affair star Sanaa Lathan will be playing the role of a well-connected New York lawyer named Lisa Arthur. She is going to represent the Roy family in times of need.

Lodge 49 alum Linda Emond plays the senior White House aide, Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven. She could play a significant role in the lives of the Roy family since their business tends to collide with others. Lastly, South Korean singer and actress Jihae plays the high-powered PR consultant, Berry Schneider.

Meanwhile, Succession season 3 picks up where the season 2 finale left off. The Waystar RoyCo remains the major focus here, with Logan's children competing for their desired position. They are willing to do whatever it takes just to get what they want.

After experiencing a decline in health, Logan started searching for his business successor among his four children. Connor (Alan Ruck) is the eldest, followed by Kendall, Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Shiv (Sarah Snook). All of them will continue to compete for prominence in the company in Succession season 3.
