Comedian Jansen Karp said in a post published Tuesday that he had discovered several pieces of empty shrimp tails coated in toasty bits when he poured a bowl of the breakfast cereal. Karp claimed that he also found black specks that looked like rat droppings and a loose string of dental floss.

Apart from getting hundreds of shares and likes, Karp also received a response from General Mills. The company's social media team offered to replace Karp's box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, to which he replied, "GUYS - I am not sure I'm ready for another box!"

The brand's social media team said in a separate post that they have already reported the incident to their quality control department. The team said that they will be conducting their own investigation before coming to any conclusion. Not long after, General Mills directly tweeted to Karp that they believed that what he saw inside the box was, in fact, not shrimp tails.

Karp was apparently not all too happy with the response he had received from the company. He immediately published another tweet to express his disappointment.

"Ok, we'll after further investigation with my eyes, these are cinnamon coated SHRIMP TAILS, you weirdos. I wasn't all that mad until you now tried to gaslight me? " Karp said.

The conversation between Karp and General Mills attracted other celebrities, who all joined by publishing their own tweets. Fellow comedian and movie producer Seth Rogan chimed in with some sage advice, while actress and show host Padma Lakshmi commented that the situation was "sweet and savory."

General Mills spokesperson Mike Siemienas said in a statement that the mix-up likely did not occur at the company's facility. Siemienas said that they have already asked Karp to send in the package so that they can continue with their investigation.
