Funimation announced it would be streaming two anime series, Mars Red and Moriarty the Patriot cour 2, ahead of its official release dates. Fans will now get to see these two shows' first episodes earlier than scheduled.
The premiere episode of Mars Red anime with English subtitles and dub will be out on Monday, March 29, a week ahead of its Japan release date on April 5. Alternatively, Moriarty the Patriot cour 2 will be out on Sunday, March 28, also a week advance of its Japan schedule.
The anime adaptation of Ryosuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi's manga is set to be out on Monday, April 4, at 10:30 p.m. Japan Standard Time. On the other hand, it will be released on BS11 and MBS on Wednesday, April 6.
The anime's second cour will begin with Episode 12, continuing Moriarty's story, the antagonist from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic Sherlock Holmes novel series. According to Anime News Network, he's an orphan in the manga who uses the name of William James Moriarty when the Moriarty family adopted him and his brother.
Growing up, he wants the country of England to be out of its ill-strict class system, and it's what he's doing now in Moriarty the Patriot cour 2. The manga started serializing in Shueisha's Jump SQ magazine in August 2016. Takeuchi handles its storyboard, while Miyoshi works on its graphics.
So far, Shueisha had published its 13th manga volume on November 4. Its The Final Problem arc will begin its climax in the 14th volume, which will start shipping in April 2021.
The anime started airing on October 11, 2020, and the first cour ended with Episode 11. It has a total of 24 episodes, divided into two cours.
As the release date gets near, the franchise's official website dropped a promotional video and a commercial to tease the second cour's events. The two clips both featured Tasuku Hatanaka's opening theme song, "Twisted Hearts."
It also revealed the new cast who would join the series, Yoko Hikasa. The Japanese voice actress would be playing the role of the newly-added character, Irena Adler, in Moriarty the Patriot cour 2.
