American singer and dancer Britney Spears is set to personally address the court at an upcoming conservatorship hearing.

Spears' attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, said at a hearing Tuesday that the "Princess of Pop" wants to directly make a statement to the court in June.

The next conservatorship hearing is scheduled to take place on June 23. The dispute over Spear's $60 million estate has been going on for the past several months. Last year, Spears moved to remove her father, Jamie Spears, as her conservator.

Jamie has been the conservator of her daughter's finances and estate since 2008, along with attorney Andrew Wallet. Under U.S. law, a judge can appoint a conservator to manage a person's financial and daily affairs if he or she is physically or mentally incapable.

Jamie was appointed as her daughter's conservator after Spear's experienced a series of personal issues that were played out publicly. He became the sole conservator in 2019 after Wallet resigned. A district judge appointed Bessemer Trust to serve as co-conservator for Spear's estate.

Following the release of The New York Times documentary "Framing Britney Spears," public interest in the singer's conservatorship significantly increased. This led to a movement called "Free Britney," where her fans have rallied behind her in her legal battle with her father.

Spears has not directly commented on the conservatorship issue, but she did assure her fans that she was doing fine. Earlier this month, Spears said on social media that she was "flattered" by the support she has received from fans.

"Happy to share especially with a world that is empathetic and concerned with my life," Spears said.

The older Spears has made several comments about the issue. He told reporters in December that he hasn't spoken to his daughter since last summer after she decided to remove him as her conservator.

"I love my daughter and I miss her very much. When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally," the older Spears said during an interview.
