BTS will make a special guest appearance in the upcoming Friends reunion special on HBO Max and the choice isn't a surprise since some of the members of the K-pop band are avid viewers of the top-rating U.S. series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, BTS will join other special guest stars for the unscripted special, which will air on May 27, on the HBO Max streaming platform. Also marking their appearances are Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Kit Harington, David Beckham, Cara Delevigne, James Corden, Malala Yousafzai, Mindy Kaling and Cindy Crawford.

Stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schimmer will also reunite with the supporting cast that includes Elliot Gould, Christina Pickels, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Larry Hankin, Maggie Wheeler, Thomas Lennon and Reese Witherspoon. Kudrow said in a podcast chat with Rob Lowe that they shot "packets" of the reunion special with their guests.

As for BTS joining the reunion, RM revealed in an interview with The Ellen DeGeneres Show that his English teachers were actually the Friends cast. He said that when he was about 14 or 15 years old, it was common for South Korean parents to make their kids watch the series.

RM said that it was like a "syndrome" among parents in his home country but he actually welcomed the fact that he was hooked on the show because that's how he learned a new language. But according to some critics, RM's use of the English language is more like Joey than Chandler on Friends.

But it's not just RM who enjoys the American sitcom as the rest of the boys learned to love the show too. They even like to sing the show's theme song.

It's unclear what BTS will do at the Friends reunion special. However, since it's an unscripted program, it will likely have the guys talking about their love for the show.

Meanwhile, BTS will be celebrating their 8th year as a band in June. Jimin revealed in an interview with Rolling Stonesthat they argued a lot in the beginning, as their different personalities clashed. As time went on, the septet started to find their footing and learned to adjust to each other's quirks and preferences. Now, Jimin says, BTS feels like something he can always go back to -- it's like home.

Ahead of their anniversary, BTS will debut their second English song, "Butter," which RM describes as a "summery vibe." The song will be similar to their first English hit, "Dynamite." The group will be performing "Butter" at the Billboard Music Awards on the same day the Friends reunion will be out.
