Nearly a year after GoPro released its GoPro Hero 9 Black action camera, new reports are now surfacing about its successor's upgrades and improvements. The latest leaks have revealed some hardware changes for the next-generation action camera, the GoPro Hero 10 Black, including a new processor, image sensor, and improved video stabilization.

Improved Camera Sensor

Separate reports from WinFuture and Roland Quandt revealed that the next GoPro will likely be coming with a larger 23-megapixel camera. This is a slight bump up from the 20-megapixel sensor on the GoPro Hero 9.

The camera will reportedly be able to record videos in 5.3K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps. This is a significant bump from the frame rates offered by its predecessor. Apart from high-resolution videos, users can reportedly also create high-resolution slow-motion videos by recording at 2.7K at 240 fps.

Faster Processor and Improved Stabilization

The GoPro Hero 10 Black will reportedly be coming with a faster processor in the form of the company's new GP2 chip. It will also be coming with an improved image stabilization software, called HyperSmooth 4.0. According to leaked GoPro marketing materials, the new processor and software combo will offer users "gimbal-like" image stabilization.

The camera's live streaming performance will reportedly remain the same, supporting 1080p video capture. The camera will also have the same TimeWarp 3.0 technology as the previous version for time-lapse videos.

Similar to the GoPro Hero 9, the new model will be water-resistant up to 10 meters or 33 feet of water. It will also still support RAW photos, HDR, and SuperPhoto.

As for its physical appearance, leaked marketing materials showed that the camera will sport the same display and design as the previous model. The only real difference that can be seen is the labels on the camera, which are now printed in blue.

Price and Launch Date

GoPro has remained tightlipped about the new device's price and launch date. However, analysts believe that the company will likely follow the same release date pattern as its previous GoPro cameras. If this turns out to be true, then users should expect the new GoPro Hero 10 to hit shelves sometime next month.
