ZE:A's leader Junyoung broke his silence over the controversy he got involved in with the AfreecaTV BJ, Haru. The latter claimed a male idol member wanted a refund after she decided not to meet him in person.
Haru released a clip on her YouTube channel, HARUTV, a famous male idol who harassed her through a series of DMs on Instagram to do business with him. Although the social media personality didn't reveal the identity of the K-pop star, Junyoung came forward to express himself.
AllKpop noted that Haru seemed to insinuate the male idol offered her "financially-linked relationship" or sponsorship with "romantic interests." However, in a talk with Chosun Dot Come, Junyoung cleared he only reached out to the YouTube star for a "music business offer."
It had nothing to do with sponsorship or dating. He was eyeing to file a legal complaint against the netizens who dragged his name about the "sponsorship" for defamation.
It all started when Hary released a video titled "I Eventually Gave You a Refund, So Please Stop Doing This" on HARUTV, per Koreaboo. The male idol, allegedly, first approached her in February and asked if she was interested in doing business with him.
She instantly turned down the offer to meet the idol and talk about the alleged opportunity. She stopped responding, not interested in being represented by any agency.
The idol tried to reach her again through another streamer and was forced to respond, fearing rumors and speculations might come out for getting another streamer involved. They had a call and she insisted she wasn't interested in being under an agency or being a celebrity.
The idol remained persistent, which could be seen in Haru's shared screenshots of DMs and KakaoTalk messages. The idol eventually stopped but started to watch her broadcasts and sent her money through AfreecaTV's Star Balloon gifting system.
Haru had no idea he was watching until she saw the idol group nickname and the requests to put the idol group name on her face. She started to feel uncomfortable, so she offered him a full refund, minus the transaction fee.
The idol was upset with Haru and accused her of being pretentious. Haru also got upset with his tone, so she decided to make the video.
She, then, showed a transaction receipt of her refund worth ₩1.69 million or $1,380 to the idol. Haru kept things private, not revealing the idol's name, YouTube channel ZE:A Leader that belonged to the member Junyoung came out of the comments section, defending his actions and threatening lawsuits against the other commenters. He also accused the Haru of "hoarding attention" by using him.
