Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly enjoying Easter holidays skiing when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Queen Elizabeth II in the U.K. on Maundy Thursday. With the Cambridges' absence, a royal expert revealed the Sussexes were finally able to reconcile with the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprisingly visited Queen Elizabeth before heading to The Hague for the Invictus Games. However, Prince William and Kate Middleton were not there and military historian Christopher Joll saw it as the perfect time for the controversial royal couple to drop in.
Speaking to LBC, via Express, Joll revealed the Invictus Games also played a major part in giving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex the chance to reconcile with the royal family. He even said there were no surprises with what happened.
In fact, it only paved the way for the two to return to Britain for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Joll added the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on the other hand, might not mind sharing the balcony with them.
"I do not think that is the big issue," he told the host Camilla Tominey when asked. He strongly believed it was a personal issue within the royal family that they had to sort out amongst themselves.
If there is a big issue than the alleged brawl of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with the royal family, it is stepping down as full-time members that "put themselves in a very awkward position." Now, Joll added that they have turned into "commercial celebrities," doing things that made them earn, like having multimillion-dollar contracts with Netflix, among others.
For starters, it was the first time the former actress and the military veteran visited their grandmother two years after the infamous Megxit. It happened days before Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 96th birthday.
Page Six revealed they met Her Majesty at her home at Windsor Castle, along with Prince Charles. TMZ first reported Prince Harry and Meghan flew from their home in California to London's Heathrow Airport.
They left their two kids, Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 10 months old, at home. Queen Elizabeth has yet to meet Lilibet, while it has been two years since the last time he saw Archie.
They reportedly stayed overnight at their home of Frogmore Cottage, where Princess Eugenie currently lives with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their son, August. A spokesperson said Prince Harry visited Queen Elizabeth like he hoped to do so.
