Apple is, reportedly, planning on launching a new external monitor using mini-LED technology for use on Macs next year, an analyst reveals.

According to a tweet from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, Apple had "pushed" the debut of a 27-inch mini-LED display to the first quarter of 2023, MacRumors reported.

The analyst did not provide an exact date as to when the new monitor could arrive, but simply indicated it's debut within "Q1 2023," or the first three months of the coming year.

Earlier, the analyst said he was expecting Apple to launch the new monitor in June during this year's WWDC, but had to push it back to October because of delays in the development. But since Apple wasn't able to meet the October deadline, Young said it is now aiming for a launch sometime early next year.

The news outlet noted that Apple had been facing supply problems throughout 2022, and this could have been the reason why the new 27-inch display got delayed. The Cupertino tech giant faced issues with supply, affecting many other products including new Macs.

The still-unnamed monitor will have a 27-inch display featuring mini-LED technology. It is also said to feature ProMotion support, which will allow for up to 120Hz refresh rate. While the new monitor boasts of new technology, it is by no means a replacement for the existing Pro Display XDR, a larger 6K monitor best used with the Mac Pro.

Instead, the new monitor will be similar to the 27-inch Apple Studio Display, MacRumors noted. Interested parties, however, should expect it to be priced higher than the older monitor, which is sold starting at $1,599 apiece.

Other Apple Devices next year

Aside from releasing a new monitor featuring new technology and better features, Apple can also be expected to release a slew of new devices next year-including those that could be used with the new monitor, of course.

Earlier reports indicate that the Cupertino tech giant could release a new Mac Pro featuring Apple's own silicon instead of Intel chips. This new Mac Pro could be powered by the M2 Ultra chip which boasts of 20 cores, or the M2 "Extreme" which boasts of even more cores at 40.

Rumors also indicate that Apple is working on a new iMac, as well as a new iMac Pro, both running on an M3 chip. Details about these said iMac models are elusive at the moment, but fans can expect them to be better than the ones currently available.

That said, Apple hasn't announced these devices yet, which means fans better take these with a grain of salt until they are confirmed.
