Park Yoo Chun's comeback movie, "On the Edge," also known as To Evil," will not hit South Korean theaters after the court ordered a broadcast appearance ban on the singer-songwriter. So, will this cancel his planned return to the entertainment industry?

Park Yoo Chun announced his return to the entertainment world in September. After four years, he will be on the big screen again, but it looks like it's far from happening.

The 36-year-old star has been embroiled in a number of legal problems for the past few years. He has faced drug charges and a lawsuit filed by his former agency, Recielo.

During a legal fight against Recielo, the court ordered a broadcast appearance ban that would prevent him from promoting in South Korea. Hence, this affects the release of his comeback movie.

"On the Edge" is set to be out this month, but its theater release has been canceled. This seems to stop Park Yoo Chun's comeback plan, as the court denied his request to remove the ban.

However, fans still have a chance to see the now-controversial movie. Its production company revealed it would be released on IPTV and other VOID services.

It was in August 2021 when Park Yoo Chun got embroiled in a dispute over a contract with his former agency. Recielo claimed he had signed an exclusive deal with the actor in January 2021 but violated it by signing with a Japanese agency.

Recielo took the matter legally and brought it to court. From there, the court ruled that the artist couldn't "produce, publicize, advertise, or engage" in any entertainment activities with other agencies until the court made its final ruling.

Park Yoo Chun found the order unfair and asked the court to cancel its ruling. However, the court found no reason to call his former agency's action an "abuse of rights."

Meanwhile, "On the Edge" is an independent feature movie featuring the former JYJ and TVXQ member, directed by Kim See Woo. Despite the ban in Korea, the film has already won several awards at different film festivals, like Best Leading Performance for the lead's role at the Las Vegas Asian Film Awards last year.

Alternatively, Park Yoo Chun also received a 10-month suspended prison term sentence with two years of probation in 2019 for drug abuse. This issue shook the entertainment industry to its very core as it also involved his former fiancée, a known heir of a huge dairy company.
