King Charles III officially delivered his first-ever Christmas speech, seemingly snubbing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle amid the new allegations the couple made in their recent Netflix docuseries, "Harry & Meghan." The monarch didn't even mention the Sussexes and instead talked about the senior working members of the royal family, even praising Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn't join the royal family in their Christmas celebration at Sandringham. A royal expert even believed conversations about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were off-limits at the event.
Aside from not mentioning his son and daughter-in-law, the two didn't also appear in the images shown on the screen as he delivered his eight-minute speech. Instead, he talked about the work the Firm members had been doing.
There were images of Camilla, Queen Consort, donating Paddington bears to kids. Princess Anne, Princess Edward, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, were featured.
King Charles was all praise for Prince William and Kate Middleton as he talked about the charitable deeds many in the U.K. had been doing every day. He mentioned the Wales' first visit to Swansea after being bestowed with their new titles following Queen Elizabeth II's passing in September. The broadcast also showed the Duke and Duchess of Cornwalls' visit to St. Thomas Church.
His Majesty followed in the template of his late mom's past Christmas broadcasts, featuring a personal reflection on the year, current issues, and remaining within a Christian framework. He also recognized others' faiths, addressing other religious communities across Britain, helping people having financial difficulties and believing in the "power of light overcoming darkness."
He said he had the same "faith in people" as Queen Elizabeth, who touched others' lives with "goodness and compassion," which he described as the "essence of our community and the very foundation of our society."
Meanwhile, the talks about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were believed to be "strictly off-limits" at the Christmas celebration of the royal family in Sandringham. Royal expert Adam Helliker revealed their docuseries had been described as "almost a nuclear radioactive subject" that might have left the royals "in tears."
In an article in The Sun, he wrote that the show's subject was guaranteed not to be raised at the royal celebrations. The series had "spoiled" their days enough, especially King Charles and Camilla's as the new King and Queen, and anything that had to do with it was said to be heartbreaking for them.
