Music fans should have seen the collab of their lives, only that it didn't happen. News broke pop superstars Beyoncé and Britney Spears should have worked on a project together, though it didn't come to fruition.

According to reports, Queen Bey asked the Pop Princess to appear in her new music video, but it fell through. So, what happened?

Page Six broke the news about the two superstars' collaboration, citing multiple sources. However, reps for the singers didn't respond to the publication's request for comment.

Hence, no one knows why their joint project has been axed. If it pushes through, it's supposed to be the second time the hitmakers will work together.

Beyoncé and Spears have worked together on a Pepsi ad with another pop superstar, Pink. The three sang Queen's hit song "We Will Rock You," dressing as female gladiators.

Enrique Iglesias made a surprise appearance in the commercial, making it more iconic. Their collaboration is also supposed to be the "Toxic" singer's second music-related project after winning her controversial conservatorship, which lasted for 13 years and ended in November 2021.

Her much-awaited comeback happened in August 2022, collaborating with the music icon Elton John. The two released a duet of "Hold Me Closer," a remake of the latter's classic song, "Tiny Dancer."

The track debuted at No. 6 on Billboard Hot 100, making it Spears' first top 10 single in a decade. Alternatively, Beyoncé dropped a new album, "Renaissance," in 2021.

It quickly topped the Billboard 200 chart and received nine Grammy nominations. Her latest single, "Cuff It," made it to the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100. From No. 38, it effortlessly climbed to No. 10 for the week of January 14, giving the former Destiny's Child member her 21st top-ten single on the chart.

"Cuff It" nabbed the Best R&B Song at the 2023 Grammys, while "Break My Soul," "Plastic Off the Sofa," and "Virgo's Groove" also got Grammy nominations in dance/electronic and R&B categories.

Elsewhere, Spears once again unleashed a tirade against her mom, Lynne Spears, and younger sister, Jamie Lynn. The post might have something to do with Jamie's recent interview, in which she revealed that being Spears' sister "negatively affected her self-esteem."

Justin Timberlake's ex referenced Reese Witherspoon and even mentioned Beyoncé, saying things got worse when she shared because people would ask more questions, just like her mom, as if she didn't know.

"What the f*** do you think Beyoncé's mom would do if they did that to her daughter," she wrote. Spears continued that Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, might just look at them like they were crazy.
