"Chainsaw Man" has made a mark for its gory and violent scenes, but the worst happens when Denji eats Makima at the end of Part 1. So, why did Denji do that, and how would it affect the manga's future?

It has been the series' norm for the devils to eat other entities, just like what Denji did to Makima. As "Chainsaw Man" Part 1 featured the said act, why did it need to happen?

Denji ate Makima so that she couldn't regenerate, knowing devils had the ability to do so. Makima had been known for always underestimating Denji and was obsessed with the Chainsaw devil within him.

This obsession resulted in her dropping her guard, giving Denji the way to defeat her by shredding her with his chainsaw. When Makima tried to fight who she thought was Denji and ripped him apart to get to Pochita, little did she know she was already fighting Pochita himself.

From there, Denji took her remains and ate her in his apartment in "Chainsaw Man." Denji refused Makima's wish to be a part of the Chainsaw Devil and forced her to be part of him instead.

Kishibe later revealed Denji ate MakiM not only to prevent her from reviving but also to make her one with Denji. He had always known that Makima was very much interested in him because of the Chainsaw Man.

It paved the way for him to get close to Makima and hit her without noticing his presence, as her ability could only sense people by their smell and not their face.

For starters, Makima was one of "Chainsaw Man" Part 1's main characters. She was a senior public Safety Devil Hunters member and the Tokyo Special Division 4 experimental unit leader.

She offered Denji to join her squad after his first transformation into the Chainsaw Man. Denji found Makima the most caring and friendly person in his life, seeing her as the first person to treat him as a human.

He even had romantic feelings for her. But for Chainsaw Man, she was the control devil who controlled everything.

She even used Denji's feelings for her to trap him to take over Chainsaw Man's powers. After introducing the control devil, it was revealed that Makima aimed to control Pochita and use the Chainsaw devil's devil erasure power to create an ideal world.

However, in "Chainsaw Man" Chapter 96, Makima revealed she wanted to spend forever with Denji after believing she had defeated Pochita. She even said it would be an honor to be eliminated by him if she got defeated.
