When asked about the alleged attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden stated on Saturday that "everybody must condemn" violence.
When President Biden addressed the nation approximately two hours after the shooting, he expressed his relief that reports indicate that President Trump is "doing well," CNBC reported. According to him, he had been unable to get in touch with Trump prior to his remarks; however, the White House stated that he did speak to Trump many hours after his remarks.
“We cannot allow this to be happening. The idea that there’s violence in America like this is just unheard of,” Biden stated. The POTUS, who was speaking without the assistance of a teleprompter, stated that he was waiting for additional information before formally referring to the attack as an attempt to kill the former president.
“I have an opinion, but I don’t have any facts,” Biden told reporters, vowing to provide updates as he learns more.
Following the stroke of midnight, Biden made his way back to the White House, therefore wrapping up his weekend trip to Delaware. Authorities from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Law Enforcement will provide him and Vice President Kamala Harris with an updated briefing on Sunday morning, according to the White House.
The emergency briefing room of the White House, which is located in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was used by the president to make his statements to the nation. This room is set up whenever the president travels so that he can deliver his remarks to the nation in a matter of minutes. He was attending mass at a neighboring church and spending the weekend at his beach house when the shooting took place. He was also present at the church.
Journalists questioned the president as he was leaving the church, inquiring whether or not he had been informed of the shooting. Despite the fact that he had a serious expression on his face, Biden turned toward the reporters and responded with a straightforward "no" before entering his motorcade.
A few moments later, President Biden was provided with an "initial briefing" by his aides. Subsequently, he gathered security officials together to receive a more comprehensive update from Kimberly Cheatle, the director of the United States Secret Service, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and White House homeland security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall.
Though Biden publicly condemned the bloody Trump rally shooting incident, netizens were suggested that the POTUS should be blamed and held accountable for it. Some even posted a quote Biden made a week ago saying, “I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”
“Donald trump was indicted on federal charges for “working to overturn the election” which ‘led to Jan 6th events.’ Joe Biden made this quote just 1 week ago. Joe Biden should be held responsible for todays assassination attempt on Donald Trump,” one X user wrote.
“JOE BIDEN'S RHETORIC IS PARTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON DONALD TRUMP. FACT CHECK: TRUE,” another netizen posted on X, formerly Twitter.
“Joe Biden is RESPONSIBLE for the assassination attempt on Donald Trump more than Trump was responsible for Jan 6 by saying Trump is “clear and present danger” and “put a BULLS EYE” on Trump!!!” Joe Whisman said.
“Joe Biden and The Democrat Party are responsible for the assassination attempt of Donald Trump. This kind of rhetoric is very dangerous. Please pray for the Trump supporter that was killed, and the two who were wounded,” RK Gold penned.
“Joe Biden, everyone at MSNBC, the political elites, and the clowns at CNN who have dehumanized Trump and all of his supporters over the last 3 plus years are wholly responsible for the assassination attempt on Donald Trump tonight in Butler, Pennsylvania!” Joe D’Errico commented.
“SHOTS HEARD AROUND THE WORLD. Joe Biden, look at what you’ve done. You are responsible for the assassination attempt of your political opponent, President Donald Trump. JOE BIDEN HAS BLOOD ON HIS HANDS,” another X user suggested.
“@JoeBiden YOU and YOUR party are responsible for the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. By calling him a wannabe dictator. By claiming he’s literally Hitler 2.0 and “will end democracy as we know it” you’ve been dog whistling for Trump’s assassination. You need to apologize. Immediately. And you need to shut the fuck up. Same goes for the major media who are echoing you dog whistles,” Mike Kilo posted.
“Joe Biden is directly responsible for the assassination attempt on Donald Trump️ Civil War is upon us,” another netizen responded.
Meanwhile, with the obvious belief that it would be wrong to attack Donald Trump at this time, the election campaign for Joe Biden has halted any political statements and is working to take down its television advertisements as swiftly as possible. Instead, they are focusing on condemning what has occurred.
They are coming together to argue that violence has no place in a democracy, and they are politicians from all over the political spectrum. These are people who agree on very few other things.
Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter were quick to condemn the violence and express their relief that Trump was not gravely injured. They also expressed their relief that the violence had been stopped.
Senator J.D. Vance, who is believed to be on the shortlist to become Trump's vice-presidential nominee, stated that the rhetoric from the Biden campaign was directly responsible for this incident.
A number of other Republican leaders are expressing similar sentiments, which will almost surely be deemed incendiary by their adversaries during this precarious period in the political landscape of the United States.
Already, we are able to see the battlelines being formed in what has the potential to become a very uncomfortable conflict over an event that is really startling. And one that will completely transform the campaign for the election.
