Sabrina Carpenter is working late because she is a singer who is not lip-syncing.
After internet trolls falsely accused the "Espresso" hitmaker of not actually singing when she was performing in front of a live audience during her Short n' Sweet Tour, the pop star recently put detractors in their place, Express US reported.
In response to a TikTok video that claimed Carpenter only performs "40 percent" of the time during her concerts, the "Please Please Please" the hitmaker was certain: "I sing live every show 100 [percent]. Would you like to speak to my audio engineers?"
The Disney Channel alum was the most recent artist to be accused of lip-syncing by social media trolls because of the false claim, as per OK! Magazine. Critics have also targeted Taylor Swift, Lenny Kravitz, and other popular performers, speculating that their microphones may not be fully on while they are singing on stage.
David Grohl accused Swift of lip-syncing during the Eras Tour, as per Business Insider. However, Swift responded by informing the audience at her concert one day later: "Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much."
Kravitz's acceptance of the Music Icon Award at the 2024 People's Choice Awards was the subject of speculation among observers, who believed that he was lip-syncing.
Carpenter has recently made significant strides in the music industry, even earning a spot on TIME's 100 Next list, which honors "100 emerging leaders from across the world who are shaping the future," according to the publication.
The 25-year-old disclosed the extent to which her most recent performances have resonated with her during an interview with the outlet.
"There were so many things I dreamt of doing as a little girl I got to do this year that felt like such a cool, sweet, little bucket-list moment for my younger self," Carpenter reviewed her meteoric rise to fame as Swift's opening act, her appearance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, her appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, and other accomplishments.
"I literally threw up when I found out about SNL. Not to be graphic," she cracked a jest. "I grew up watching those performances and being like, I want to do that. But then it all just seemed so—not even out of reach, just like I had a different plan in my head of when it was all supposed to happen."
