Melania Trump, the First Lady, has admitted to being "taken aback" by the Secret Service's decision to evacuate the family to The White House shelter during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

The admittance was disclosed in her explosive memoir, Melania, published on October 8.

Melania recounted the time she was compelled to evacuate the second floor of The White House amid violent BLM protests, in addition to sharing her unexpected views on abortion and other topics, as per AP News.

Melania recalled she "expressed reluctance" in response to the Secret Service's directive to evacuate the building, as she "was sure we were safe on the second floor."

Even though most of the residence personnel had already been evacuated, the former First Lady continued to challenge the decision made by the federal law enforcement agency.

When discussing her emotions and thoughts during the evacuation, Melania wrote: "Annoyed, I gathered my jacket, along with both my personal and White House phones, slipped on my shoes, and headed to get Barron and my parents, only to find them already waiting for me at the elevator."

Although Melania comprehended the necessity of these measures to guarantee her husband Donald Trump's safety, as per EconoTimes, she acknowledged: "It seemed an excessive measure from my perspective." Still, she thought it was "pointless to contest it."

The former fashion model went on to recall another instance in which an airplane flew over the White House, which was likewise considered a threat to the president's safety at the time.

Melania stated that the experience had equipped her with the ability "to always be ready for an emergency."

Despite mentally preparing for a potential emergency, Melania proceeded to compose: "I had never anticipated needing to use the bunker to seek refuge from a crowd of aggrieved protesters."

According to the book, Melania and the rest of the family arrived at the shelter, which is situated beneath the East Wing of the White House, and Donald was already stationed there, The Washington Post reported.

Melania recalled that Donald could perceive her "frustration" regarding the circumstance, but he "remained composed."

After that, she continued by giving the impression that she was praising her husband for never ignoring the Secret Service's decision while serving as President, regardless of how inconvenient it was for her and the rest of the family.
