Donald Trump is alleged to have passed gas while on stage at a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan, on Thursday, October 10. It is possible that he did so more than once.
Multiple videos purportedly capturing the indecent noises went viral on social media, and Trump's detractors couldn't help but giggle at the possible gaffe, OK! Magazine reported.
One user jokingly stated, "This speech did not pass the smell test," while another user said, "The flies tormenting him at every rally make much more sense."
A third individual composed the following statement: "Trump was ranting about politics, paused to fart loudly, and then resumed his rant!!! He truly reminds me of an elderly man at a HOA board meeting in Florida."
Another critic commented, "Just like my Grandpa used to do after he overate at Thanksgiving."
"People who worked on The Apprentice with him say this has been a problem for him for YEARS," one unnamed critic wrote about the myth that Trump allegedly soiled himself on set during his reality show days, although this has never been confirmed.
Trump has been accused of embarrassingly passing gas in public multiple times in the past year, Snopes shared. In April, MeidasTouch co-founder Ben Meiselas posted a video to social media asserting that "Donald Trump is farting in the courtroom" when his hush money trial was underway and that it was "very stinky around him."
"I’m hearing it from actual credible people that as he’s kind of falling asleep," he added. "He’s actually passing gas and that his lawyers are really struggling with the smell."
After seeing the film, longtime Trump detractor George Conway responded, "Not that anyone should do anything with this information — but flatulent and fraudulent do rhyme."
Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the late-night talk program "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," also made light of the rumors during an episode of the show a few days later, as per Vulture.
"Just when you think the insano-meter has topped out, Donald Trump adds farting to his list of atrocities. I mean, we are in uncharted territory," the comedian uttered during his opening monologue.
"We don't know for sure that Trump was the one farting. It would not be right for me to state that he was," Kimmel observed.
"I cannot in good conscience report that Trump was pumping gas like a Barstow Texaco, but I can report, to borrow a phrase he likes to use when spreading rumors, 'many people were saying Trump was farting in court,'" he went on.
