During his speech at the Economic Club of Detroit, Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the federal response to Hurricane Helene. He is attempting to capitalize on the tropical weather for political benefit.

In a speech at the Economic Club of Detroit on Thursday, Donald Trump declared that he would not safeguard the NATO allies of the United States from Russian attacks, CNN reported.

The former President of the United States expressed his dissatisfaction with "delinquent" countries and maintained that he would not protect them.

He stated: "A head of one of the countries stood up and said, 'If we don't pay, you will not protect us from Russia?’,” I responded, “That's what it means! I will not protect you in any form. You will not be protected.”

During his subsequent speech, Trump claimed that the government had failed to fulfill its obligations after Helene had "not done what you're supposed to be doing." Fox News was compelled to interrupt him.

“They’ve let those people suffer unjustly,” stated Trump, who has been disseminating false information regarding the response of President Joe Biden and emergency management officials for the past few days.

President Joe Biden expressed his desire for Congress to expedite the process of approving additional disaster response funding but refrained from ordering legislators to return from recess early

During his remarks to reporters at the White House regarding the federal response to Hurricane Milton's devastation, Biden specifically highlighted the critical need for immediate funding for the Small Business Administration. This agency provides low-interest loans to firms that have suffered damage from disasters.

“I think, in terms of the SBA, it’s pretty right at the edge right now,” Biden stated. “And I think the Congress should be coming back and moving on emergency needs immediately.”

When asked explicitly about his intention to have Congress return early, Biden remained evasive, stating simply, "I think Congress should move as rapidly as they can."

Milton was linked to four verified fatalities, according to the president during his briefing, National Enquirer reported. "We have reports that at least ten individuals have lost their lives," Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated during an earlier White House briefing that he participated in virtually. This appeared to contradict Mayorkas' statement.

“Our understanding is that those fatalities were caused by the tornados” related to Milton, Mayorkas said, adding that the situation was still fluid.

"Get a life, man," Biden says as he once again blasts Trump for spreading false information regarding the federal government's disaster response efforts.

Biden told reporters on Thursday that he would not contact Trump personally about the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton, as per Al Jazeera. Biden straightened up and faced the camera more directly when asked what message he would have for Trump.

“Mr. President Trump, former President Trump, get a life man. Help these people,” Biden stated.

White House officials and Vice President Biden have spent days criticizing Trump for making misleading statements regarding disaster response, such as claiming that federal funds are being used to support illegal immigrants and that the maximum amount of assistance that may be given is $750.
