Pete Davidson, who is famed for dating a number of Hollywood's most famous celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and Kate Beckinsale, does not like to be known for his famous relationships.
According to Page Six, the former cast member of "Saturday Night Live" discussed his sentiments over the fact that his celebrity status is tied to some of the relationships he has had in the past. He stated that he does not want to be regarded as "this f-king loser who just dates people."
"I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it's [a] movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That's when I want to be seen. I don't want to be this f-ing loser who just dates people. That's not who I am," Davidson, 31, said. "But people hate celebrities now. The media takes a handful of celebs every couple of years, and they just destroy them. For some reason, I'm one of the people they chose to go after," he added.
The "Bupkis" star, who has just entered the fashion industry as the creative director of the sockwear brand Doublesoul, expressed to the source that he believes his celebrity image has been "oversaturated" as his career has evolved.
"In 'The Sopranos,' there's this line from Tony that's like, 'You ever feel like you got into something at the end? When the good times were over?' That's how I feel about show business and being a celebrity. It's over," he said. "When you're first coming up, and getting all these offers, it's hard to say no, because you're hungry. I made the mistake of doing literally everything. Now I'm older and wiser, and I'm realizing that less is more."
As far as the film industry is concerned, Davidson has stated that in order for him to become a major player, people need to miss him. Adding that he can achieve the same level of success as Leonardo DiCaprio or Christian Bale by performing in films only every once in a while.
The comedian also talked about his dating life in the previous year. He stated on Jon Berthnal's "Real Ones" podcast that he does not consider his dating history to be "interesting" because of the amount of time he has spent working in the industry. Other topics that were discussed included his dating life in the previous year.
Per LadBible, Davidson stated that he had become a great deal more pleased with his life after taking a break from the public eye.
As far as dating is concerned, he has reached a point where he no longer finds it interesting.
As expected, Davidson's candid remarks about his Hollywood image have sparked reactions from fans and followers on social media. Many X users expressed support for Davidson's perspective. One follower agreed, saying, "Pete Davidson is right - Hollywood needs to stop reducing him to his dating life! He's talented." Meanwhile, another one noted a positive shift in his persona, commenting, "Does anyone else feel like Pete is starting to finally grow into his true self? #GoodForHim."
Some users questioned whether Davidson's public image had truly become oversaturated, with a fan writing, "I totally get where Pete is coming from. But is he really 'oversaturated' or just misunderstood?" Another netizen felt that Davidson needed a break from the constant media spotlight, stating, "Pete needs to take a break from the media. He's so much more than just his exes. #RealTalk."
A user pointed out the value in Davidson's approach to a more selective career, suggesting, "He might be onto something with the 'less is more' thing. Fewer appearances, more respect." Finally, another fan praised Davidson for his self-awareness, posting, "Pete Davidson is finally seeing the bigger picture. It's refreshing to hear him talk about 'doing good work.'"
