In the last five years, the Duke of Sussex has been spending the holiday season in sunny California with his wife, Meghan Markle. However, prior to Prince Harry's decision to remove himself from the Royal Family, he participated in all of the customs that they observe. Over the course of his childhood, King Charles would spend Christmas Eve at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where he and his family would exchange presents beneath the Christmas tree.
The extremely pampered lifestyles of the royal family ensure that they almost never have any desire for anything. In fact, it's a well-known custom for the royal family to purchase modest and inexpensive humorous presents for each other. One year according to Mirror, Prince Harry was left bewildered by the gift he received from an unusual royal relative, even referring to it as "cold-blooded."
Prince Harry makes a passing reference to Princess Margaret, his great-aunt and the sister of the late Queen, in the beginning of his book, which is titled Spare. However, despite the fact that they share "12.5 percent" of her DNA, the Duke refers to her affectionately as "Aunt Margo" in his book. He also admits that he did not know her very well.
According to him, Princess Margaret gave him an unexpected present on Christmas Eve in Sandringham. The gift was a miniature biro with a rubber fish wrapped around it. He says that Princess Margaret gave it to him while everyone was getting ready to open their gifts.
He recalled: "Standing before my pile, I chose to open the smallest present first. The tag said: 'From Aunt Margo'. I looked over, called out: 'Thank you, Aunt Margo!'"
According to Mint, following the opening of the present, Prince Harry expressed his amazement and expressed his gratitude to Princess Margaret, who, according to Prince Harry, had pointed out that the biro was not just any biro but rather a unique one.
Harry added: "It wasn't just any biro, she pointed out. It had a tiny rubber fish wrapped around it. I said: 'Oh. A fish biro! OK.' I told myself: That is cold-blooded."
Additionally, Prince Harry mentions in his book that when he was younger, he believed that he and Princess Margaret ought to have been friends because they were "Two Spares" and shared a lot of features in common.
The memoir said, "Her relationship with Granny wasn't an exact analogue of mine with Willy, but pretty close. The simmering rivalry, the intense competition (driven largely by the older sibling), it all looked familiar. Aunt Margo also wasn't that dissimilar from Mummy. Both rebels, both labelled as sirens."
The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry has been tense for a considerable amount of time, despite the fact that they were closer when they were younger. The fallout reportedly began before Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding. The duke is said to have accused Prince William of being snobbish to his wife.
However, it became even more severe once Prince Harry came up with allegations against his brother in two different tell-all books: his memoir, Spare, and his documentary that was released on Netflix. Within the pages of his memoirs, which was published only a few months after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry made the accusation that Prince William had physically assaulted him and pushed him into a dog bowl during a dispute regarding Meghan.
When Kensington Palace published a statement rejecting a narrative that Prince William had bullied Prince Harry out of the Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan claimed in their Netflix series that Kensington Palace lied to protect Prince William despite the fact that the statement was issued two months after the Queen's death. Despite the claims made by the pair in their show, the palace has never provided a response.
King Charles pleaded with his two sons during a stressful meeting at Windsor shortly after the funeral of Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, according to what Prince Harry wrote, saying, "Please, boys. Don't make my final years a misery."
