The Oppo F9 Pro is expected to come out alongside the Oppo R17, a couple of smartphones most hope to sport similar designs. A reason behind this is because the Chinese company traditionally offers handsets with almost identical designs, the Oppo F and R series as a good example.
The Oppo F9 and F9 Pro are expected to be launched in regions outside of China, and some key features have now been spilled thanks to a teaser poster from Oppo India. The image shows both the front and back of the device. It also confirms the speculated redesigned valley notch, somewhat similar to the Essential Phone, Gizmo China pointed out.
Aside from the valley notch, the teaser poster also confirms the inclusion of rear dual camera setup. The Oppo F9 Pro will even come with the company’s VOOC Fast Charging technology where a 5-minute charge will give users up to two hours of talk time. This recharging technology is a rebrand of Dash Charge. There is no word on the size of the battery for the Oppo F9 Pro.
One thing missing from the teaser is the usual rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It is possible that the phone may not come with one. Models such as the Oppo Find X did not come with a fingerprint sensor and instead relied on facial recognition to unlock the handset, XDA Developers said.
Aside from that, there is also the possibility of seeing the Oppo F9 Pro with rising new biometric feature most phones have started to integrate. The fingerprint sensor could be placed under the display, something latest and upcoming phones are already implementing.
The Oppo F9 teasers also hint at the device having a waterproof body. Although it wasn’t mentioned, it is likely that the handset will come with at least IP67 compatibility.
As for the other specs, the F9 Pro will allegedly sport a 6.3-inch IPS LCD (2280 x 1080 p) and will run on a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC according to MySmartPrice.com. Other unofficial specs that the device may come with a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage that can be expanded up to 256 GB via microSD. With regards to the cameras, it is likely to come with the primary camera offering at least 25 MP, the same one the Oppo F7 carried.
There is no official word as well on when the Oppo F9 Pro will be launched. Regardless, this could take a while with Oppo likely to first introduce the R17 in China before moving on to the F9 Pro.
