The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE variant toting 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of ROM is now officially available in China. It is one of the three options that the Chinese company launched together with the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer edition, the variant offering the best specs for a reasonable price tag.

The Xiaomi variant can be officially found on the Xiaomi Mall and Suning Tesco and priced at $338 and looms as one of the wise investments for consumers seeking a premium handset in the midrange market with more than decent specs, Gizmo China said.

Aside from the best memory and internal storage configuration one can get in the market, the latest variants from Xiaomi also features a 5.88-inch Super AMOLED display (2244x1080 pixels) and comes powered by a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset and an Adreno 616 GPU.

It also sports a 12 MP + 5 MP dual main camera and a secondary 20 MP front-facing camera that should appeal to folks looking for a useful device when making video calls or taking good resolution selfies. A non-removable Li-Po 3120 mAh battery supplies power, and the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, GSM Arena said.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 variant will also include traditional features such as a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for needed biometric security, USB Type-C reversible connectivity, and dual-SIM ready. Prior to the availability of the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM variant, other RAM + ROM configurations include 4 GB + 64 GB and 6 GB + 64 GB options. Seeing how this variant does not come with provisions for expandable storage via microSD, the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM looms as a logical option for mobile phone buyers who require a powerful device that has a large internal memory storage capacity.

As mentioned in a previous post, a potential concern on the device when it debuted in May was the 64 GB storage capacity. With most mobile phone users nowadays downloading tons of mobile apps, taking high-resolution photos and capturing videos using their handsets, 64 GB of internal storage may not be enough to accommodate the large files on a limited capacity handset.

Carrying a more than the reasonable price tag, there was no mention of how many units would be produced and on whether it would be made available outside of China. Xiaomi has been known to offer their premium handsets only in their region although some have found a way to get hold of units via online stores or friends who reside nearby.
