With plenty of devices now slowly coming out, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro should be something to look forward to. Most are now monitoring feedback on what the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max before arriving at a decision on whether to get it or look at some of the Android-powered devices.

In terms of Android-based mobile phones, Tech Radar sees the Huawei Mate 20 Pro as perhaps one of the most powerful units to consider. However, it also adds that it lacks the firepower when compared to the iPhone XS, something that should stop phone buyers dead on their track.

Performance wise, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro gave a glimpse of how much power it has inside. Through a Geekbench listing, the device achieved a single-core score of 3,390 and a multi-core score of 10,318, Telefoonabonnement said.

The results were far better than what other devices have to offer. This includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which returned an average multi-core score of 9,100. Its single-core result was slightly higher than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro at 3,698.

It would be, however, best to note that the Mate 20 Pro makes use of a different chipset with the Kirin 980 SoC. This is the first 7nm chip used in an Android-powered device, chips offered to improve performance and efficiency over 10nm variants used in most flagship phones.

Apple has already done the same for its iPhone XS range, a reason why they also scored impressively in benchmark scores. For comparison purposes, the iPhone XS Max rendered a multi-core score of 11,465 on several tests.

Further, do take note that the Huawei Mate P20 Pro tested is a pre-release version. This means that scores could be altered, depending on tweaks that may be possibly made both on the hardware and software end. Assuming there are better results, it remains to be seen if such can improve on what the iPhone XS has to offer. The Cupertino-based company has always outscored Android when it comes to tests made on the phone chipsets.

All that should be revealed in the coming weeks once the Huawei Mate P20 Pro officially comes out, it is set to debut on Oct. 16 with the base model offering 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. There are other RAM + ROM configurations as well:

  1. 6GB/512GB
  2. 8GB/128GB
  3. 8GB/256GB
  4. 8GB/512GB

Availability of these other configurations will vary according to the region.

Other specs of the Huawei Mate P20 Pro include a 6.3-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, an under-display fingerprint sensor, a triple (40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP) main camera, an 8 MP front-facing selfie shooter and a non-removable Li-Po battery. It will come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
