Huawei’s Honor 8X has been slowly making noise as the upcoming mid-range handset tries to improve on its predecessor, the Honor 7X. Leaked photos are now making their rounds over the web, hinting at the coming of two variants that will boast of large display screens.

Teasers have slowly been growing on the upcoming device, strongly backed by a leaked TENAA certification. However, the latest on the Honor 8X is that the device (or phablet) is more than likely to come out in two variants. This was the perception of most on the live photos from PC Pop.

Although there was only one device shown, the two boxes where it rested may have finally confirmed the large-screen displays the Honor 8X is expected to carry. Based on previous rumors, the phablet will be sporting a 6.95- and a 7.12-inch display. The diagonals of the Honor 8X is speculated to be higher than the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, meaning it could potentially come out with a better aspect ratio at 19:9. But with a notch likely to be present, the surface of the display may end up being smaller than the Xiaomi Mi Max 3.

With a large screen, the Honor 8X should be perfect for watching videos and playing games. But smooth performance can only be assured with high-end specs that have yet to be confirmed. According to Gizmo China, the device will not disappoint with word that the new phones will come with powerful hardware.

With no official word on what the Honor 8X will actually have under the hood, a recent TENAA filing may have given out some potential components. According to the Master Lu listing, the Honor 8X will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset backed by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. There are also provisions for expandable storage via microSD.

The built-in cameras of the Honor 8X remain sketchy. While the primary sensor of the rear camera is said to be 16 MP, its secondary one could either be 5 or 2 MP. The front-facing camera that is tucked under the notch will reportedly be 8 MP. To keep the phablet up and running, the task of doing so will be left to a 4,900 mAh battery.

There is no official release date for the Honor 8X for now although majority believe this will be happening soon. With regards to pricing, the word going around is that the Huawei Honor 8 will cost roughly $292.
