Another Xiaomi device has just announced a price cut, this time the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. The device was launched last June with the 2 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM model originally retailing for $87. Now, the device has been given a $7 cut, meaning buyers can now only get it for about $80.

The price off thus follows the price off applied on the Xiaomi Mi 8 6 GB + 64 GB variant. As mentioned in a previous post, the discounted prices made it one of the cheapest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-backed phones in the market. Aside from that, the company also offered a sweetened deal for the 256 GB ROM variant, bundling it with Mi Band 2 Fitness tracker.

In the case of the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, the lowered prices should be good news for folks in search of a budget-friendly device that offers reasonable features. The handset sports a 5.45-inch HD+ display (1440x720 pixel) with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 12nm octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz.

Aside from the discounted price on the 2 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM variant, the device is also available in other configurations – 3 GB RAM + 32 GB ROM and a 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM, Gizmo China said. Other notable specs the device carries include a 13 MP main camera, a front-facing 5 MP shooter and a 3,000 mAh battery.

In terms of biometric security, Xiaomi added the AI Face Unlock feature for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A instead of the traditional fingerprint sensor. Upon purchase, the device comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with the company’s MIUI on top. The phone comes in different shades such as platinum silver gray, rose gold, bali blue and quicksand gold.

With folks already lauding Xiaomi with the Redmi 6A for offering a device filled with features and at a very reasonable price, the price off should all the more spur demand. However, it would be best to take note that given the specs (and the price) this is a phone tailored most for daily use and not for app-crazy and gaming users, NLT said.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A, the lite version of the Xiaomi Redmi 6, is a good option for consumers in search of a new Android-powered phone or a secondary handset to have along. There is no word on how many units or if this offer will be permanent. Hence, folks who are planning to get one may do well to check it out via the company’s official site.
