John Shen, Sunstone Management founder, delivered a speech discussing international economics and business during the China-Us Summit 2018 on Saturday, September 29. The summit was held in Duke University, in Durham.
Sunstone Management is a diversified private capital management and investment firm operating by providing financial management solutions to high net clients worldwide. The company helps U.S. new immigrants in particular. The company focuses its operations in small business and lower middle markets. The company's operations offer structured financial investment plan that discusses longer loan term, equity, growth capital, and venture capital investment strategies.
The Duke China-US Summit annually gathered scholars, business leaders, and stakeholders to meticulously discuss global leadership in an aim of improving the cooperation at all levels between the two economic giants.
John Shen is the moderator of a panel entitled Economics and Business during the summit that aims to address opportunities and challenges facing China and US industries. Shen also discussed career development with the students of Duke University as its Guest Speaker. The summit was spearheaded by the Duke Chinese Student Association (CSA), Duke Kunshan University (SKU) and Duke Kunshan Student Ambassador Council (KSAC) on Duke's campus in Durham, North Carolina.
Shen said that the business, technological, and educational ties between China and America continue to grow even under the threat of the trade war. He added that, in Sunstone, they have unique insight into the complex economic institutions and relationships on both sides as their business serves the capital management needs of Chinese high net worth families and invests in fast-growing US companies.
Shen graduated his master's degree from Duke University in 1996. He is an active member of the James B. Duke Society and the President Society Council of Duke University. He has been in relation with China ever since. He spearheaded the Alumni Advisory Committee (AAC) in China in 2013. He received the Forever Duke award for his effort and dedication to Duke.
Other speakers with Shen in the career panel included Yutong Gao, Co-Founder, and CEO of Easy Transfer, and Jerry Sun, CEO of Wall Street Tequila. Other important matters like public policy and innovations, technology and entrepreneurship, economics and business were given importance in the summit.
