Aside from gaming, people use virtual reality (VR) in different fields nowadays. With its advances, it can change and reshape our daily lives in an instant. So, here are the three surprising ways that VR can transform the real world without making you move.

Reliving Dreams

If you want to be in a dream but stay living in the real world, you can now try using virtual reality to do it. Three performance artists from Atlanta, Georgia, thought of this idea and wanted to make it a reality.

Kris Pilcher, Kevin Byrd, and Dale Adams created a performance art project called Dream Collection Agency. Now, the three aimed to turn it into a business, per Yahoo News Singapore.

Pilcher, Byrd, Adams are using virtual reality to reconstruct real dreams in the virtual world. Volunteers would be recording detailed descriptions of their dreams that would turn into a VR experience. However, detailing dreams should be made right after you wake so it would still be vivid.

Be a Martian

If it is your dreams to be a Martian and visit Mars, it is now possible with the help of virtual reality. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) created the browser-based Access Mars in collaboration with Google.

Access Mars is a web virtual reality experiment that will let you wander Mars' surface with the use of 3D models. According to the South China Morning Post, the structures are built based on about 200,000 images taken by Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Curiosity Rover. The website is continuously updated as Curiosity Rover takes more snaps of the planet.

Interior Designing

If you want to change your interior design but not yet sure if it will suit your home, you can now use virtual reality to see it beforehand. TrueScale, an interior design app, will let you create a "virtual, real-scale" model of your house that you can design and experiment with firsthand. With a snap, you can be an interior designer of your own.

The Polish company Immersion created TrueScale in partnership with HTC's Vive Studio. The tool will let you create "2D floor plans, 3D mockups, and real-scale spaces" with the use of a virtual reality headset.

TrueScale also helps real designers to create better spaces that they can work on and in real-time. Users can also add furniture and other equipment they want to try with the help of 3D models from Wayfair. The app is now available on Steam and Viveport. Non-designers can also use this tool to build their dream homes.
