Lucasfilm prides by its secrecy when it comes to filming its Star Wars films, and this includes the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX. Details about the movie remain scarce although fans may see a preview coming soon.
According to a source with knowledge about the production, film director J.J. Abrams and crew are already working on the preview. Footage is "coming together" nicely, and two workers on the set describe it as looking very impressive, so much so, that they shed "tears of joy." Aside from the workers, Lucasfilm also seems happy with the footage.
As for the Star Wars: Episode IX filming, the insider claims Abrams and the cast are busy with the third act, which is how Abrams likes to go about with production. He prefers to do them by sequence if possible. Cast and crew are working double time and filming several scenes in a short period.
Aside from the scenes, they are also filming behind-the-scenes simultaneously. Fans can expect massive behind-the-scenes footage or documentaries to come out akin to the Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey and The Director and the Jedi. Moreover, the source confirms the return of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Episode 9.
The insider's claims come after previous reports reveal that a trailer for Star Wars: Episode IX is already ready for release. The preview has been cut, but details about its existence remain scarce. It also remains unclear whether Lucasfilm will release this rumored finished trailer or reveal another one. In any case, this brings fans closer to seeing the first preview for the film.
In other related news, a photo of what appears to be a Lucasfilm gift for the crew has fans in meltdown. The gift includes a handwritten thank you note from Abrams, a black paper bag with the "IX" in bold print on the front, a Bad Robot jacket, and a couple of small bottles that contain sand and beans, respectively. The bottle with the sand has a note that says, "From a long long time ago, not so far away" and the one on the bean bottle says, "Swallows you up whole!!"
The beans supposedly have something to do with a "Jedi eater" and the sand is from a sacred place on a familiar Star Wars planet. These bottles seem to contain spoilers for Star Wars: Episode IX since someone who works on the set quickly debunked them as from the production.
