While the release date of Now You See Me 3 has not yet revealed, rumors suggest the third installment of the franchise will have a late 2019 release.
It has been three years since Now You See Me 2 was released, but there's still no news regarding the released date of the third installment. And although Now You See Me 3 was confirmed back in 2015, the movie was not released the following years. A lot of fans assumed that the third installment was probably canceled. But now, according to Otakukart, the third installment will likely be released in the fall of 2019.
The first and second installment of Now You See Me were both great but gathered mixed reviews from audiences. But still, the franchise managed to earn $330 million at the box office. So, since the third installment has been confirmed, fans are expecting it will do justice.
In an interview, Lionsgate's CEO Jon Feltheimer said they've already started planning on Now You See Me 3, so the movie is unlikely to be canceled. In addition, Now You See Me has always been planned to be a trilogy, so it makes no sense it the third installment will be canceled.
As for the plot of the upcoming sequel, fans might probably expect to see the Four Horsemen - the criminal group of magicians - in another big heist, and they might be needing help from some new faces. So, it's possible there will be additional characters on the third installment. There were also rumors the new villain will be British again, as main villains in the first two movies were British.
It's also certain Isla Fisher (as Henley Reeves) will not be part of the upcoming sequel as well. It can be recalled the actress chose to let go of her character in the franchise following a dangerous stunt in the first installment of Now You See Me that almost took her life. Lizzy Caplan replaced Fisher in Now You See Me 2.
Meanwhile, the familiar faces to return in Now You See Me 3 will include Michael Caine (Arthur Tressler), Morgan Freeman (Thaddeus Bradley), Dave Franco (Jack Wilder), Jesse Eisenberg (J. Daniel Atlas), Woody Harrelson (Merritt McKinney), and Mark Ruffalo (Dylan Rhodes).
As per Feltheimer, Lionsgate believed the upcoming Now You See Me 3 will top the $350 million grossed by the first installment back in 2013. The sequel will reportedly be directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Pete Chiarelli and Ed Solomon. The producers are Bobby Cohen and Alex Kurtzman.
