News about Ellen DeGeneres' plans to quit her most-loved talk show circulated the internet. Insiders claim it is all because of a controversy that happened recently. How true is this issue?

It was in January when the comedian talk show host allegedly defended The Upside actor and fellow American comedian Kevin Hart in one of her shows. The scene happened after Hart withdraws from hosting Oscars and from posting homophobic posts in Twitter years ago.

Through her talk show DeGeneres encourages the public to forgive Hart with what he has posted on Twitter, as reported by New Idea. She even asked the Academy to reconsider the Night School actor and give him another chance to become a host of the 2019 Oscars.

With what Ellen did, some of her followers and fans flared as they started to turn their back on her. Even the LGBT community who have supported her career and loved her for years were offended and even criticized her actions.

Because of the criticisms and the negative response of people around her, which Ellen has been deeply affected with, the comedian considered to leave her talk show because of how depressed the issue makes her.

"The pure hatred that came Ellen's way was a huge shock to her", a source says. "Ellen is used to being a beloved TV icon, and she feels she's getting too old to be the object of bullying."

The issues even started to take its toll on the American host's emotional health, according to a source. DeGeneres "desperately needs acceptance from her peers and fans". This is why without these assurances and expression of love, Ellen tends to become insecure and depressed, the same source claims.

"She's been in a funk for weeks, and everyone's wondering if 2019 is the year Ellen announces her retirement," the source further added.

But all these rumors circulating the internet are not true.

As a matter of fact, Gossip Cop was able to dig deep into the rumor and learned through one of the star's closest friend that this issue was just made up.

December of last year, Ellen has confirmed her plans to leave her show in 2020 as her contract expires, as posted by the New York Times. This happened prior to the issue regarding Hart.

So to clear things up, if Ellen has plans to end her career as a show host this year, there is but one thing that is confirmed: she will definitely decide out of her own will, not because of how others view of herself.
