There's something strange going on in "The Sims 4," but it's not something players should want to avoid -- because it's a new DLC, coming later this month.

"The Sims 4: StrangerVille" is a new downloadable game pack that brings new features to The Sims 4, which includes new outfits, locations, and challenges. Unlike other game packs like "The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure" and "The Sims 4: Vampires," however, StrangerVille is more story-driven, Polygon noted.

StrangerVille is a rural desert town that hides a few secrets within its vicinity. Inside this neighborhood, there's weird weather, odd-looking dangerous plants, interesting collectibles, and a secret lab that needs to be explored.

Players will need to use their wits and their Sims in order to unravel this neighborhood's mysteries. They will need to use scanners to detect the unusual and use their Sims' military training to search for clues needed to solve mysteries hidden within that secret lab.

Of course, as a Sims game, players will need to get their respective Sims ready for the task. This includes clothing them in a wide array of costumes before heading out of the house.

The new costumes include desert-inspired clothing such as prairie dresses; military fatigues; conspiracy-themed clothes, like bomber jackets; secret agent costumes; lab coats, and even a hazmat suit. The Sims need to stay in fashion, even in a town as strange as StrangerVille.

StrangerVille is quite reminiscent of "Strangetown," a neighborhood in "The Sims 2." Strangetown had an "Area 51" feel to it. StrangerVille will have something strange to it, too.

Strangetown featured weird things such as alien families and a mad scientist, StrangerVille, on the other hand, will feature locals that act in weird fashion; military personnel behaving like crazy; unmarked surveillance vans appearing from no one knows where; and government personnel as they're obviously spying on players.

Developed by Maxis, "The Sims 4: StrangerVille" will be released for the PC and the Mac. It will be available on the EA website beginning on February 26, 2019. The Sims 4: StrangerVille also has a tie-in comic available on the EA website. It has four parts, three of which haven't been released at the moment.

Those who want to play using this DLC will need to purchase the base game, "The Sims 4," if they don't have it yet. In addition, it requires all game updates to be installed before it can be played.

For now, Sims players are encouraged to sign up for The Sims 4 newsletter in order to get Grim's Ghoulish Guitar for free.
