Before The Usos were crowned new WWE SmackDown Tag Team champions, not many know that one-half of the champs were embroiled in a bit of controversy. Jimmy Uso was arrested several days before WWE Elimination Chamber after a drunken dispute with the police.
According to TMZ Sports, Jimmy Uso and his wife Naomi were pulled over by authorities near downtown Detroit. Naomi was apparently behind the wheel of their 2018 Dodge Journey but was driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street.
Cops on the scene allege that they smelled alcohol, asking Naomi to step out of the vehicle. It was this scene where Jimmy had reportedly jumped out of the car and even took off his shirt and jacket and squared off with the office, appearing like he was ready to fight.
The said officer would later pull out his taser to prepare for the inevitable. Jimmy Uso would, later on, settling down and comply with the commands of the officers. He ended up being placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and obstruction. He would be jailed but later on posted bond and becoming a free man.
It was an unfortunate scene for Jimmy prior to their big match at 2019 WWE Elimination Chamber. Regardless, The Usos defeated the team of The Miz and Shane McMahon to become new WWE tag team champions. Ironically it was Jimmy who was responsible in giving the duo their sixth Tag Team title, WWE.com said.
The WWE was aware of the series of incidents and some were wondering if any penalty or sanction would be meted for Jimmy Uso on his off-ring actions. But according to Oh, You Didn’t Know, the WWE had no plans of punishing Jimmy Uso.
And while Jimmy got off lightly, an interesting angle was added to the mix. It seems that the new WWE Tag Team Champions will see their contracts run out this April and there is no word yet on whether the WWE is sure of retaining them.
Add to the fact that their father, Rikishi, had also hinted at the duo as becoming free agents, possibly a reason why the WWE is letting Jimmy off the hook, Ringside News said
Everything should simmer down for now and it will be work as usual for The Usos. A rematch for the WWE Tag Team titles has been set for WWE Fastlane at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on March 10, 2019.
