Kofi Kingston got the raw end of the deal from WWE CEO Vince McMahon recently. After earning the right to challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE heavyweight title, the 37-year-old actor/ wrestler was bumped off in favor of a returning Kevin Owens.
It was not the first time that McMahon has dipped his fingers in changing important matches. He did the same to Becky Lynch in the past although that was tied up to the WWE diva nursing an injury. In the case of Kingston, it could be because of something else.
Kingston remains stunned as of this writing and has been silent. That was until recently when the Dreadlocked Dynamo released an official statement on the surprise decision of the WWE CEO, Cageside Seats said.
While it was an unfortunate turn of events, not everyone is buying the sudden change in plans at WWE Fastlane. Something is bound to crop up, including a potential match tweak that could go down by the Mar. 5 edition of WWE SmackDown.
The former WWE champion could come out and air his grievance during the show. Knowing how the WWE handles these situations, Kingston could end up competing in a match with Kevin Owens or being granted a spot - making it a Triple Threat Match at Fastlane which happens at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland Ohio on Mar. 10.
If not, a potential twist could be tied up to Kingston and his buddies Big E and Xavier Woods. The trio has been known to come up with mischievous acts in the past and such seems to be the message at the end of Kingston's statement.
"...Mark my words: We will be back. The journey does not end here."
There are different possibilities for that final line. They could be out to spoil the Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens main event although there is no telling who their real target would be. It could be directed at wreaking havoc on WWE matches as well, something most have seen in the past.
If not that route, it could mean a push is coming for the New Day as a whole. They are many time tag team champions so they could be targeting the Tag Team gold once again. The Usos are the current WWE SmackDown Tag Team champions and are in the middle of a storyline with Shane McMahon and The Miz, Cageside Seats said in another report.
