Timeless had a rough journey, as the NBC time travel drama was initially canceled for the second season. But, the decision changed and the show was able to get back for another season, though it seems like the end of it. Now, it looks like there will be no Timeless season 3.
Timeless never had a massive rating hit for NBC, but the drama has managed to have its devoted fans to keep the show going despite low ratings, ScreenRant reported. The time travel drama has been canceled twice but was also revived twice, before eventually wrapping up with a two-hour series finale movie.
After that movie, however, the story seemed to be concluded for good. So, is the NBC drama done? Will there be no Timeless season 3?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series co-creator Shawn Ryan said it's probably the end for the series. But, he also added the door is open if ever someone is interested in further opening it. But for now, the story has probably ended for good. So, it's unlikely there'll be no Timeless season 3.
Still, fans are hoping Timeless will be renewed for the third season. This could be possible since they were able to revive the previous season, but some believed the show's impact among viewers wouldn't be the same.
The third season also failed to find a home after NBC canceled the series, but the producers agreed with the network to release a wrap-up movie. The movie was announced back in July 2018, and the production began as well. NBC aired the two-part series finale in December 2018, wrapping up the storylines of Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus, as well as the supporting characters.
Timeless tells the story of a team of time traveler: Army Master Sergeant Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter), Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer), and the pilot of the time machine Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett). They were tasked to follow a terrorist named Garcia Flynn (Goran Višnjić), the three traveled back in time to through their time-traveling machine called Lifeboat to keep everything in order and to save the world.
Meanwhile, others think there might be a spin-off which will be entirely different that many people will embrace as well. Towards the end of the series, viewers have witnessed a little girl was coming up with plans for her time machine. This suggests there's indeed a possibility for a spin-off, but for now, this remains a speculation.
