A great battle is finally looming. As The Flash Season 5 Episode 16 goes on air, viewers and fans will wonder if the series is heading towards a penultimate ending. After all, the fastest superhero on the planet continues to be on harm's way.

With Chris Klein's Cicada on the radar, it will be difficult not to stare into the stars and decide if fate has something huge in store for the world to see. After all, The Flash Season 5 presents a villain with a somewhat overwhelming stature.

Before proceeding to ponder on this definitive showdown, perhaps it will be essential to look into the background of the anti-hero called Cicada. The fact that Grant Gustin's Barry Allen needs his team more than ever tells something that Klein's character is indeed formidable.

Cicada is the latest dark side manifestation of David Hersch. Aside from being an architect, he is also a preacher with a catch. He has the makings of a rogue individual due to his violent and paranoid tendencies. His superpower comes into play when he attempted to commit suicide after murdering his wife.

A bolt of lightning has redefined his life, for better or for worst, depending on which side a person looks at. With an electrifying surge of energy, Cicada is able to add years to his life by sucking in other people's inner force. This capability has allowed him to stay on for close to a century. With such power, he has put a cult in place.

What makes Klein's character extremely dangerous is attributed to his immortality, quickened healing, and psychic approach. With this in mind, it will be quite difficult for Allen to fight Cicada head on. Surprisingly, this villain is also on the hunt for meta-humans which The Flash is pursuing.

It is likely that the best chance that Gustin's character can outlast the newest baddy is to use the serum which was formulalize by Team Flash to cure superpower-driven entities. The only question remaining will be the effect of the substance on the rogue guy who is also known as Orlin Dwyer.

While Cicada is out to wreak havoc on the rest of the world, he has reasons for doing so. Judging from the fact that he killed his wife, the sense of dejection is probably eating Hersch from the inside and his desolation will be manifested in the exploits of his super self.

The Flash Season 5 may close out Cicada's existence but the show has some exciting stuff to reveal pretty soon judging that the speedster Godspeed will be in a forthcoming story. It is probable that the series will be coming out with another enemy.
