Orange Is The New Black season 7 is returning once again on Netflix, but we know it would be the final season for the ladies of Litchfield. So, what can viewers expect in the upcoming season? Here's everything you need to know about the seventh season of the prison drama.

As of the moment, Netflix hasn't announced the official release date of Orange Is The New Black season 7. The preceding seasons aired in June or July, but the production of the final season just finished back in February 2019. So, it's very likely the prison drama might premiere a little late this year.

On February 26, creator Jenji Kohan posted a photo of the whole cast and crew which marks the end of filming, along with a caption "This is a family" and a hashtag #OITNB. Other cast members also shared their reactions regarding the ending of the series, such as OITNB and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne. Kate Mulgrew, on the other hand, uploaded a Valentines-inspired message during her last day of filming on February 14.

Meanwhile, as for Piper (Taylor Schilling), the season 6 ended with her being released in the prison. A lot of viewers feared she might not return in the final season and the story at Litchfield will continue without her. But, Digital Spy reported Piper will be back and Orange Is The New Black season 7, it will follow her as she reintegrates into life on the outside world. Executive producer Tara Herrmann also confirmed that although the character has been released, the series will still continue to follow her story.

Piper's love interest, Alex (Laura Prepon) will also return on the final season. Fans can expect a very exciting storyline for the inmate as Piper is now on the outside and Alex is still on the inside, their status as newlyweds will be further explored. Herrmann also said Piper and Alex's prison wedding might create a possible conflict in Orange Is The New Black season 7 - especially since the latter has four more years behind bars.

Other cast expected to return in the final season include Dascha Polanco (Daya), Kate Mulgrew (Red), Dale Soules (Frieda), Natasha Lyonne (Nicky), Adrienne C Moore (Black Cindy), Laura Gomez (Blanca), Danielle Brooks (Taystee), and Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes). The new faces in season 6, including Vicci Martinez (Daddy) and (Amanda Fuller (Madison), will reportedly join the final season as well.

Regarding the possible spin-off, while it's a wrap for Orange Is The New Black, there are still more stories to tell. We know that Netflix owns the right of the series, and there are rumors the streaming service is aiming to spin-off pivotal characters into a new show. However, there's still no confirmation from about it, but Lionsgate TV Group chairman Kevin Beggs the prison drama remain one of Netflix's most-watched shows. Thus, a spinoff is very likely.
