At WWE Fastlane, it was all about setting the stage for key matches at Wrestlemania 35 set to take place at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Apr. 7, 2019. And while most were focused on the heavyweight title matches, there was the storyline involving Shane McMahon and the Miz.
After losing the WWE Smackdown tag team titles to The Usos at WWE Elimination Chamber, the duo of Shane-O-Mac and The Miz was primed for an eventual showdown at Wrestlemania 35, Forbes said. The only question though was who would be the face and heel wrestler. WWE fans got their answer at the recent WWE pay-per-view.
After losing once more to The Usos, Shane McMahon turned on The Miz. He locked the triangle on his now-former partner, clearly setting the stage for a showdown at the annual WWE spectacle, WWE.com said.
With several weeks to go, expect a lot of revelations from both sides. Shane McMahon is likely to reveal his deep hatred on The Miz. On the other end, expect The Miz to build a storyline of his own using a face persona – something that may be curious to watch considering he has often played the villain opposite high profile face-like WWE stars.
It will be interesting as well if there will be other personalities involved. In that WWE Fastlane match, the father of The Miz was at ringside to cheer his son on. However, he also watched how Shane-O-Mac turned on the A-Lister and this could be added as a side attraction next month.
Aside from that, there is also the kind of match that The Miz and Shane would agree on. With hatred building, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if it ended up either as an Extreme Rules kind of a match or even an Iron Match type of a setto. Whatever it is, expect the WWE to set up a punishing and rigorous clash.
There won’t be a title on the line when The Miz and Shane McMahon cross paths. Hence, the only way to make it interesting to fans is to have a special kind of match or adding some wild stipulation, raising stakes to keep fans glued. All that should be revealed in the coming weeks where things are bound to get personal between the Miz and Shane-O-Mac.
