Following a Googler leaking what seems to be the Pixel 4; all eyes go back to the two devices left in Google's lab at the moment. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL were also hinted previously by Senior Vice President of Android Hiroshi Lockheimer, but it's been a while since we have news about the handsets.
This all changed recently when Android Central found some new clues about the mid-level Google Smartphone. According to the website the Pixel 3a might be unveiled by the Search Engine giant on May 7. It may have something to do about a section in Google Store that hinted on a "new hero" that's coming on the aforementioned date.
Digging deeper will direct visitors to a landing page where they can sign-up for updates on the Pixel 3a. Again, it said that "something big is coming to the Pixel universe" on May 7. The date is quite ironic because it is also Day 1 of Google's I/O convention.
Moving over, another Pixel 3a hint was discovered by the source. It relayed a post coming from a Canada-based retailer that leaked about the new Pixel's price. As per a Reddit thread, the Google Pixel 3a should come in at $649 and $799 for the Pixel 3a XL. Take note that they're talking about Canadian Dollars.
Sailing to US shores will pit the Pixel 3a at around $500 while the Pixel 3a XL sits in at $600. These are still rumors, so no is not the right time to break the piggy bank.
The Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be the marketed as a mid-tier Smartphone to stretch the market touch of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Specification wise, leaks and rumors see the Pixel 3a to have a 5.6inch OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 or 710 CPU, 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage.
A 3,000mAh battery will power the Pixel 3a, while a 12.2megapixel will be incorporated at the back. Up front is an 8megapixel wide-angle snapper. The difference between the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL is, well, the size. The latter will flaunt a 6inch OLED display screen and a still "unknown" battery capacity.
Tracing the vein of speculation, there's a possibility that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be announced by Google during its keynote speech at I/O. Android Central also said that both devices will be "Verizon exclusives" in the US. As for its price, the smaller Pixel 3a should play around $400-$500, while the Pixel 3a XL should add $100 more.
