It's been a while since Android creator Google revealed the next line of Pixel Smartphones to the public. Admittedly, both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL are the newest handhelds that Google will push to stay in the competition. While these two devices are now under wraps, the Search Engine giant is now rumored to be releasing another round of Smartphones. It's not set in stone, though, but it's a strong bet that it could be the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL.
Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google's Senior VP of Android, recently took to Twitter and posted what he described to be an "unreleased phone". On a more precise note, Lockheimer said that he took pictures with the unknown device while he visited Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard's office. He also added that he "shouldn't share them" on the micro-blogging website, but he did anyway.
Pocket Now reported that is centering on the fact that the Google executive is indeed teasing a new Android device by saying that it is possible that Google is "already testing the Pixel 4." On the other end of the Pixel spectrum is also the prospect that Lockheimer used either the Pixel 3a or the Pixel 3a XL during his aforementioned foray. But despite the entire buzz, Google has yet to make an official release about these new devices.
Likewise, the website stated that it's normal for Smartphones makers to test their new offerings ahead of their big reveal. Things like these build hype and anticipation, especially when it comes from someone in-the-know. For Android lovers, Lockheimer just dropped a potential bomb that the Pixel 3a or the Pixel 3a XL will add more spice to their mid-range lineup.
Phone Arena meanwhile added to the speculation that the Android VP is using the new devices on a daily basis and is testing it "thoroughly in real-life scenarios." They are also not disclosing that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL is inching close to be official, which is why he is now testing the waters with it. Renders of the new devices were also included in the article, making it more susceptible to what everybody is anticipating. Add these points to their rather on-point prediction of what the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL should pack makes it all the more readable.
According to them, the new Google Smartphones will be called the Pixel 3 Lite and the Pixel 3 XL Lite. They should also look alike its predecessors sans the metal and glass enclosure. Instead, the Pixel 3a will be casted in the familiar polycarbonate plastic and a slight dip in resolution at 1080x2220 pixels. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will also host a 5.6inch and 6.0inch screen size, respectively.
On the inside, the mysterious handhelds will pack a lesser punch. The Pixel 3a will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 CPU, while its big brother the Pixel 3a XL should come with a Snapdragon 710 processor. They will also tout a 4GB RAM and 64 GB of onboard memory. Camera-wise, both will have the same 12megapixel snappers, just like their predecessors.
