NCIS: New Orleans is closing its fifth season with an explosive episode featuring the mother of Dwayne Pride (as played by Scott Bacula). Joan Cassidy has been cast in this role in a special guest appearance.

According to TV Line, Pride will not see his aging mother in her "current condition," as someone who is supposedly in dire need of a caregiver. Thus, there have been speculations that Pride's mother will appear in the form of a hallucination and this will happen because something bad has happened to her son during a dangerous mission.

Apparently, Pride will be separated from his team while going after the people behind Apollyon in the NCIS: New Orleans season 5 finale. This will make him vulnerable as a target of the group that has also been responsible for the death of his father.

As per Cinema Blend, Bacula and Cassidy's age gap in real life is only less than nine years old, and it would be quite unusual for NCIS: New Orleans to cast Cassidy as his mother if this were the case.  So, it's likely that Pride will be in a tricky situation that will make him see things, with his mom looking close to his age. This can only happen if Pride had a hallucination or there are flashback scenes in the season finale.

Meanwhile, the NCIS: New Orleans season 5 finale will be divided into two parts. "The River Styx, Part 1" will air on Tuesday, May 7, at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. As per the episode synopsis, this will feature Pride and Lasalle (played by Lucas Black) flying to South Ossetia, a Russian province, to track down an FBI Special Agent named Raymond Isler (played by Derek Webster).

Isler has been following the activities of Apollyon, but he ended up missing. Pride and his men suspect that he's been kidnapped by the underground spy network, but this will also be quite a personal mission for Pride knowing that he's closer to finding out who killed his dad.

The second part of NCIS: New Orleans season 5, on the other hand, is set to air the following Tuesday, May 14. CBS, however, has not yet released the details of this episode but it's apparently where Cassidy's appearance is expected.

Meanwhile, CBS has also not yet confirmed NCIS: New Orleans season 6. The show's ratings, while not as high as the mother series, NCIS, is still pretty solid though and there's a good chance it's still coming back for the 2019-2020 season.
