Jessica Jones season 3 on Netflix has both good news and bad news for the fans. The streaming platform recently came out with a teaser poster to confirm that new episodes are almost ready for release.

However, the teaser also stated that Jessica Jones season 3 will be the final run on Netflix. This further confirms that the show has been canceled on the streaming platform.

Jessica Jones season 3 is the last Marvel series Netflix has retained after dropping DaredevilLuke Cage and Iron Fist in late 2018. The streamer also dropped The Punisher in February after the Jon Bernthal-starrer ended its second season.

Star Krysten Ritter did say a few months back that they have been filming the final series of Jessica Jones for Netflix. In a post on Instagram, the actress expressed her thanks to her co-stars and the fans of the show for their support in the last five years.

However, Jessica Jones could still find its way on the small screen in the future as Disney, Marvel's parent company, is launching its own streaming platform to compete with Netflix. The new service, to be called Disney+, is set to launch in the last quarter of 2019 so it might be a while before fans of Jessica Jones may hear of a revival.

Meanwhile, not much is detailed about the plot of Jessica Jones season 3. The second season, however, ended with the death of Jessica's mom at the hands of Trish Walker (played by Rachael Taylor).

Trish also had a procedure that gave her the same superpowers as Jessica despite the dangers of the side effects. Fans speculate that Trish's superhero alter-ego will be Hellcat, the new antagonist in Jessica Jones season 3.

There were also speculations that Killgrave (played by David Tennant) would return in Jessica Jones season 3. However, a report from Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the actor has not been working on the show's final season.

Jessica Jones season 3 will also mark the directorial debut of Ritter, as per Deadline. However, it's unclear which episode she has helmed when filming took place in New York in the summer of 2018.

"The entire crew and cast have become family to me, and I'm so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins," Ritter said in the announcement of her directorial job.
