China is developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macau Greater Bay Area as it prepares to open up to foreign investments. The region will be turned into a massive cluster for advanced industries which will catch up with the world's leading economic hubs.

The construction of the Greater Bay Area is expected to improve the livelihood of the people living in the area as it drives the comprehensive opening of China in the new era. According to Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the construction of the area is one of the leading development strategies of the country which was proposed and promoted by the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Mr. Huang said at the opening ceremony of the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Media Summit held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province that it will further demonstrate to the world China's systemic advantages and further enrich the content of the country's "one country, two systems" policy. He added that Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao needs to continue expanding their cooperation to build a world-class Bay Area and city clusters in the coming years.

As part of China's overall reform and opening up strategy, the Greater Bay Area development plan was officially released in February to transform the southern region of China into a model of unique development by building a first-class bay area and a world-class city cluster.

Tang Shihong, deputy director of Guangdong office for GBA promotion, said during an interview with a Chinese news network that the building of this area is one of the major national strategies under the 'one country, two systems' policy. He added that they're working hard on it and we're doing our best to catch up with those bay areas of New York, San Francisco and Tokyo in the near future.

He also said that the major project will provide a huge opportunity to uphold the reform and the opening up of China. It serves as a new starting point for high growth development in the bay area.

The secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC said that Guangdong will continue the expansion of the exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao as they construct the Bay Area and Achieve harmonious and coordinated development among cities in the three regions.

Mr. Li said that Guangdong will seek expanded cooperation and more discussion with Hong Kong and Macao in building, operating and managing the infrastructural projects that link Guangdong with the two Chinese SARs, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and other large-scale projects.
