The First Lady Melania wore an astounding $20,000-value wardrobe during her visit to Japan with her husband, the United States President Donald Trump.

The First Lady is known for her expensive and tasteful fashion choices. But her latest looks during her trip to Japan with the President may so far be the most expensive array ever tagged on her. At one event alone, she wore a $4,490 gown from the house of J. Mendel.

That was during the equally marvelous state dinner Monday at the Japanese Imperial Palace in Tokyo which was hosted by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. The aforementioned dress was a caftan of a light pink hue, with an embroidery design of silvery feathers. It featured a cape which the First Lady wore wrapped around her shoulders.

The jewelry she wore with her pricey outfit was minimal but completed her elegant look. It consisted of diamond studs on her ears. Then she wore silver heels that complemented the embroidery on her dress. Her hair was down and loosely styled to fall in soft waves around her shoulders.

At the same affair, the Empress Masako had chosen an exquisite long gown in cream. Over it, she wore a blazer of lace that matched the color of her dress. The sleeves on the blazer were a sheer material. The Empress' hair was worn back in a neat chignon, showing off the diamonds around her neck and her drop earrings.

The U.S. President and the Emperor were in black-tie tuxedos for the formal six-course dinner.

The Emperor and his wife stood outside the palace to welcome the Trumps to the banquet as the first guests of Emperor Naruhito after his ascent to the Chrysanthemum Throne.

While the American guest couple were in Japan, they attended a number of events besides the formal dinner. And in those affairs, Melania was seen in several pricey outfits. Her photographs show her having worn six costly get-ups, which included the Calvin Klein postal dress she had on for her trip from the States to Tokyo, which was valued at $3,900.

Then Sunday, the 49-year-old wife of the U.S. President had worn another whopping number in navy, a jumpsuit by Loro Piana which had a price tag of $3,450. This she wore with a dark colored belt and black pumps.

It was this pajama-style get up which she chose for her visit to Odaiba Pallete's digital art museum for the Borderless exhibit. With her was Akie Abe, the wife of Japan's Prime Minster, Shinzo Abe. The First Lady spent some time with students, signing autographs, as well as with children, making some fish drawings with them.

That evening, she donned another magnificent get-up, this time an evening dress from Roland Mouret which cost $2,020. She had gone in it with her husband to their dinner date at the Inakaya restaurant with the Prime Minister and his wife in the Tokyo Roppongi District. After dinner, their group had attended a sumo event in the fuchsia ensemble, a body hugger in wool which featured asymmetrically cut neckline.

On the day of the state banquet, for the welcome ceremony at the palace, she donned her light Carolina Herrera dress that had a heavy price tag of $4,290. This was a white piece with floral accents which she had paired with red suede heels.

On board the USS Wasp Tuesday in Yokosuka, the First Lady was with the President as he gave a few words addressed to the troops on board in a short Memorial Day speech. She had on a gold patterned Dries Van Noten $1,100 coat over an ivory dress. This she paired with yellow high heeled shoes.

Melania's outfits ($19,250), plus her shoe wear, belts, and accessories are estimated to have reached an unbelievable $20,000 cost.

In the past, the First Lady's stylist, Herve Pierre, revealed that, unlike Hollywood superstars and past first ladies (for official functions), Melania pays for her own clothes. And she spends a ton of dollars to achieve her look in clothes she mostly only uses once.
