Google announced just recently that the Google Assistant integration will roll out on Waze. For now, the latest update is only available in English and for US users and it is not yet clear if the search engine giant will expand the future updates or its availability. The latest update is also for Android phones only, so those using iOS in accessing Waze will not be able to avail of this latest update.

So far, Google Assistant offers one of the best ways to minimize distraction while driving since its voice recognition feature can take care of several tasks. This feature has been on Google Maps offering convenient assistance to people who are seeking for help in reaching their place of destination. And, thanks to the latest update announced by Google, the handy Google Assistant is now on Waze.

Latest Update

One interesting part of the update enables Waze uses to order specific commands to Google Assistant. Users can say, Hello Google Report Traffic and the Google Assistant will act just like you have reached out and hit the same command on the screen. This feature is very convenient for drivers as it helps them focus on their driving with their hands fixed on the stirring wheel.

This is also very helpful for Android users who do not yet have an infotainment system and still depend on Waze on their phones to navigate to their destination. With the latest update, users can give commands to Google Assistant to do many things without getting distracted. Tasks like sending messages, making calls, playing audiobooks, can now be accessed hands-free with the latest integration of Google Assistant on Waze.

Additionally, you can use the Google Assistant to access your favorite Waze app features, by simply saying hey Google report traffic, you can report traffic jams, incidents, and many others while driving and without the need to touch your smartphone. This is convenience and safety since most drivers meets accidents because of distracted driving. A large number is caused by using phones while behind the wheels.

It's Not For Everybody

While the latest update is really handy, unfortunately, it is not for all Waze users. The update being rolled out by Google is only for Android users. But, if you are not an Android user, there are still several ways to minimize driving distractions. The key to focus on your driving is to turn your phone to silent mode or better yet turn it off.
