During this year's E3 event, "Cyberpunk 2077" is one of the upcoming titles that surprised the fans. It also bagged more than 100 E3 2018 awards for unveiling and for the fans' interest on each of the screenshots and updates it released. Just recently, NVIDIA, the Delaware-based GPU titan confirmed that it has collaborated with CD Projekt Red to support real-time ray tracing of the highly awaited title through its NVIDIA GeForce RTX series.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX series was actually already in action during the launch and unveiling of many titles. PC Gamer reported that it was able to get a closed-door demo of the "Cyberpunk 2077" build enabled with NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU. Although the GPU maker did not reveal the kind of ray tracing effects it used in the game, the site disclosed that it mentioned dynamic lighting effects and the use of global illumination.
According to Matt Wuebbling, the head of NVIDIA GeForce Marketing, "Cyberpunk 2077" is an unbelievably ambitious game combining deep role-playing and first-person perspective. It creates an immersive and complicated world that tells the game's narrative. Wuebbling noted that "Cyberpunk 2077" will greatly benefit from the realistic lighting that the real-time ray tracing brings.
CD Projekt Red's head of studio Adam Badowski shared that through ray tracing, they can realistically depict the behavior of light in a crowded urban setting. He added that through this technology they were able to add an extra layer of verticality and depth to the already outstanding megacity that the game is set. NVIDIA confirmed that it is the official technology partner of CD Projekt Red in delivering real-time ray tracing to "Cyberpunk 2077."
So far, "Cyberpunk 2077's" unveiling made history. Fans loved how Keanu Reeves is included in the game as one of its NPC that players can interact with. The game was already shaping up to be one of the most demanding titles in PC. However, real-time ray tracing technology will certainly push the best graphics cards to their limits.
Aside from what fans have seen during this year's E3 event, NVIDIA released the first-ever screenshots of "Cyberpunk 2077" using its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4K gameplay screenshots.
