Apple has called a voluntary recall for an undetermined number of 2015 MacBook Pro laptops. The affected units have defective batteries that will overheat and can even explode, which pose a danger to safety.
The overheating of batteries in technological products is not an issue that should be taken lightly. An increase in its temperature can cause its expansion and eventually, may end up exploding. Apple itself has recognized this, and the technology giant company based in Cupertino, California USA has announced a recall of 2015 MacBook Pro 15-inch screen retina and has asked those who have one of them to stop using it and contact Apple to know if they can get a new battery for free immediately.
Potentially dangerous units were sold mainly between September 2015 and February 2017 worldwide, and can be identified by the serial number of the product. The withdrawal, however, does not affect the other units of the 15-inch MacBook Pro or other Mac laptops. However, it is advisable that all users of these equipments carry out the regulatory checks to ensure that the use of their computer is safe.
The news was published by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman on his Twitter account. And since then, Apple has opened a technical service page to explain the withdrawal process
To find out if a MacBook Pro is part of the affected series, the user should choose the option "About this Mac" in the Apple menu in the upper left corner of the screen and check if the text that appears says the following: "MacBook Pro (Retina, 15 inches, mid 2015)".
If this is the case, the user must write the serial number on their computer on the website of the battery renewal program to know if he is entitled to it and, in such case, send the device to an Apple repair center, where the installation will take between one to two weeks. Customers can also visit the Apple Help page to learn more about the affected products and how to change the battery at no cost.
It is worth noting that just recently, Apple also announced a recall of a 2015 MacBook Pro for customers who wanted it, due to what is called the "butterfly keyboard." The main complaints about the keyboard of 2015 MacBook Pro are that the keys become sticky shortly after using it and that they break easily so that the letters do not appear on the screen when they are clicked, or they do so duplicate.
Just a few weeks ago, Apple introduced new models of the MacBook Pro, which include Intel processors of eighth and ninth generation which, is more powerful than the previous ones and have a price of $1799 dollars in the case of the13-inch screen MacBook Pro and $2399 for the 15-inch screen MacBook Pro. Apple and customers hope that these new MacBook wouldn't have the same problems as the recalled 2015 ones.
