We are still several months away from the rumored release date of GoPro Hero 8. But, like the majority of popular gadgets, the eighth iteration of the fan-favorite action camera has its fair share of rumors and speculations in terms of features. Among them includes a new processor, a hyper smooth stabilization capability, and an edge to edge screen.
Edge to Edge Screen
Unlike smartphones and other mobile devices, there have not been any leaked designs or prototypes for the GoPro Hero 8. According to trustedreviews, it is unlikely for the action cam company to make radical alterations to its iconic design that has been proven time and again for its ruggedness and waterproofing capability. While there were previous claims that the upcoming action camera ill have a monochromatic display, according to the site, it would be a surprise if the company releases a monochrome upgrade of its latest offering.
The most likely feature that GoPro Hero 8 might have, according to ValueWalk, is an edge to edge rear screen and several internal upgrades. The eighth action cam iteration is also expected to house a new GP2 processor despite several performance gains that it could benefit from the GP1. This includes the HDR video feature of its predecessor, which is available to its competitor DJI Osmo Action.
GoPro Hero 8is also anticipated offering some kind of hyper smooth stabilization. The upcoming action camera is also expected to feature video + photo capture capability. This feature was already in GoPro Hero 5 product line but was removed in the GoPro Hero 6 Black.
Requested Features
In addition to the highly anticipated specs of GoPro Hero 8, fans are also requesting several features of the upcoming action camera. This includes low light stabilization, the 960fps slo-mo mode, and the support for external mic via Bluetooth instead of the 3.5mm adaptor. Fans would like to also have more creative options when it comes to video features.
A 4K at 120 fps would easily trump the DJI Osmo's 60 fps maximum vide framerate. Without any major leaks, it is hard to give major conclusions about the new features that GoPro Hero 8 will sport. However, GoPro Hero 8 will be another opportunity for the company to snatch the number one action camera rank from DJI.
GoPro Hero 8 is expected to be released in September 2019 based on the previous releases of its predecessors.
