Xiaomi has already delivered to the world devices with 48MP sensors, but it appears that the Chinese tech company is not yet done. If the recent claim is true, it seems that we will all be seeing a Xiaomi flagship device with a 64MP sensor. It would be the first ever device with the highest resolution available in the market.
Xiaomi MIUI Camera App
Several weeks ago popular tipster Ice Universe claimed that Samsung's 64MP sensor will be launched in China and will debut in a Xiaomi Redmi device. It appears that his claim is now echoed by another report from XDA Developers. They discovered that some code snippets in the MIUI camera app lend an ounce of weight to the previous claim.
In general, Chinese phone manufacturers are always finding ways to bring the most innovative and the latest technology to consumers. Therefore, it is no longer a surprise if Xiaomi would like to use the latest sensor from the South Korean tech and electronics giant. According to the latest report, a reference for a 64 MP ultra-pixel mode was discovered in the camera app MIUI in the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro device running the MIUI 10 build 9.6.17.
Samsung ISOCELL
In addition, the code snippets also mention 64MP dual camera as the device's watermark text for images. Last May 2019, Samsung unveiled the ISOCELL Bright GW1 Sensor. So far, it is the only sensor available in the market capable of offering a 64MP resolution.
The sensor utilizes Tetra cell technology to blend four pixels into one with a decent measure of lighting conditions. The sensor leverages on the Dual Conversion Gain along with the remosaic algorithm to develop images with 64MP resolution. The sensor can produce 16MP resolution images in a low light environment and supports real-time HDR of up to 100dB.
In the past speculations claim that the sensor will be integrated into the Samsung Galaxy A70s and the South Korean tech titan would position it as the first-ever mobile phone with the highest resolution. But, this device will not be available before July, which could mean that the highly speculated Xiaomi 64MP smartphone might be announced in China anytime soon. It is still unclear which model will house the impressive sensor but, since it is considered as high-end imaging hardware, it could be integrated into the Mi Mix 4. This is Xiaomi's flagship device that is anticipated to be unveiled in the later part of 2019.
