Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is not yet scheduled to launch its next flagship mobile platform until in the later part of 2019. While it does not mean that the company is not into something they have not yet released any official info about their soon to be released products. However, a leak surfaced just recently disclosing the details of its next-generation product, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

On his official Twitter account, Winfuture's Roland Quandt posted some of the details concerning the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The tipster claims that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is currently referred to by its employees as the next generation high-end SoC with the name Qualcomm SM8250. He also reveals that it will have two variants, namely the Kona and the Huracan.

Quandt also reveals that both variants will support UFS 3.0 and LPDDR5X RAM. In addition, the tipster claims that only one of these variants may have an on-chip Qualcomm 5G modem while the other will be released without the 5G modem. Although he admits, he does not know which specific model will have what it is good to know about these developments.

Based on the tipster's claims it appears that the variants of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 will be categorized based on the integration of on-chip 5G. Also, it is worth noting that Qualcomm has already released a product that supports UFS 3.0, that is, the Snapdragon 855. That processor is currently housed on OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, making the devices the latest in the industry with high-speed memory.

Another interesting claim about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, according to Quandt, is that both models will support LPDDR5 memory. The LPDDR5 is the most recent class that first appeared in JESD209-5 released in February 2019. It features a couple of new operations over their precursors, which are centered on power consumption.

Samsung also revealed that I completed the development, testing, and validation of a DDR5 prototype module last year. So far, the details revealed by Roland Quandt are the only ones that we have with regards to the upcoming next-generation product of Qualcomm. The company has not given any clue or details about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

Based on speculations, the next flagship mobile platform will be developed, but there were also claims that the company might return to Samsung's foundry to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mass produced. Both Samsung and Qualcomm have not confirmed this arrangement.
